I’m sure the winters here in North Carolina aren’t as brutal as say – Canada or Wisconsin (my home state!), but still the colder months have turned my skin into sandpaper!! This peppermint body butte recipe is heavenly and does wonders for my skin in these dry months.
1. Place coconut oil, cocoa butter, and shea butter in a medium sized pot over low heat. Stir to combine until it melts completely. Remove from heat.
2. Thoroughly mix in the sweet almond, vitamin E, and peppermint oils.
3. Chill in your refrigerator for an hour or two. You want the mixture to firm up without getting too hard.
4. Once chilled, use a stand mixer (I love my kitchen aid with whip attachment) or hand mixer to mix until you get a decadent whipped consistency. Scoop into a jar or container. As long as you are using quality oils this homemade lotion should last for 6 – 12 months at room temperature. If your home is extra toasty it may melt but you can re-chill and whip it up again with no problem.
*NOTE: If you are making this whipped body butter for little bodies you may want to choose a different oil like lavender which is more highly recommended for small children.
As with all homemade beauty products, make sure you follow these simple safety guidelines.
